The Book

This is an unabridged republication of the work originally published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1888. It is softcover.

Contents

This is a tale of medieval Germany where two baronial families are engaged in a blood feud. Otto is captured by the rival family and loses his hand to them. He is aided in an escape and is able to stay with monks who obtain the emperor’s protection for Otto. Otto has his mutilated hand replaced with a silver hand and grows to be a wise person.
