Aulus Persius Flaccus (34-62 A.D.) – Roman poet and satirist from Volterra.
Petri Pithoie (Pierre Pithou) (1539-1596) – French lawyer and scholar. He wrote a number of legal and historical works as well as editing classical writers, such as Juvenal and Persius.
Nicolas Rigault (1577-1654). French classical scholar. As well as preparing many books on the works of classical authors, he was also a librarian to Louis XIII.
Jacques Auguste de Thou (1553-1617). French historian. He wrote a History of His Time in 138 books which covered Europe from 1506-1607.
Stephen Andre Philippe (Etienne Andre Philippe De Pretot) 1708-1787. Royal censor and professor of history at the Royal Academy of Science in Paris. He edited a number of classical authors.
Decii Junii Juvenalis Satirarum Libri Quinque. Ex Recognitione, Steph. And. Philippe. The first section of this volume contains the six books of Juvenal’s 16 Satires and a note by Pierre Pithou. It also has Nicolas Rigault’s work on Juvenal’s Satires and the life of Jacques Auguste de Thou. The second section has the life of Aulus Persius Flaccus by Giovanni Britannico of Brescia and the Satires of Persius.
